Hoda Kotb Details Daughter Hope's 'Really Scary' Hospitalization

The 'Today' anchor is back on the show after almost two weeks away.

After missing the Today show for nearly two weeks, Hoda Kotb is back on the air and speaking about why she was gone and what her family went through. 

On March 6, Kotb shared that her 3-year-old daughter Hope was hospitalized, detailing to co-host Jenna Bush Hager, "Life is one way on a Monday, and we all have our Mondays and we complain about them...And then Tuesday rolls around and something really hits hard, and you realize that Monday was actually pretty awesome."

Kotb described how her daughter Hope spent a few days in the ICU due to a health issue, before staying a week more in the hospital.

Understandably, Kotb was affected by the experience, adding, "It was really scary."

Thankfully, Hope is now back home, as Kotb emotionally proclaimed, "I'm over the moon that she's home. And I can't believe how amazing people are."

The Today anchor went on to highlight the great care Hope received from nurses and doctors, expressing gratitude for everything they did.

She also thanked everyone for their kind messages and concern, relaying on air, "I felt you. I heard you. I needed you. You know, sometimes you just say a quiet thank you inside."

Kotb also expressed how her fear and worry for Hope challenged her ability to feel gratitude in the moment, explaining, "I always talk about gratitude, but I found myself not living in that lane because I was scared."

But she took a moment to look at her life and re-center herself, saying, "And then I thought to myself, ‘Let me think about this for a minute. I have a family who loves me. I have a little girl who is home. I have a wonderful support system.' Sometimes you talk about gratitude and then when you're pushed to the limit, do I feel it?"

Kotb is happy to be back on Today, with her daughter Hope recovering from her hospital stay at home. Along with Hope, Kotb is the mother of another daughter, 6-year-old Haley.

The 58-year-old officially returned to Today earlier in the day in a segment with Savannah Guthrie.
