Prescott High School Senior Completes Eagle Scout Project

Anthony Moore, a Prescott High School senior and an Eagle Scout candidate with Troop 7007 in Prescott, recently completed his required
project in the process of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest in Scouting.
Anthony’s project involved creating a tall pots nursery rack, a rebar-enforced stand housing 27 2.5-foot high pvc pots. The elongated structure promotes a rapid established tap root for future drought resistance. Using this method, most trees are ready for planting after six to eight months. To transplant, auger a 6-inch deep hole about 2.5 feet in diameter, remove the base wire mesh and let gravity do the rest.
Using this method, one can plant more than 50 established trees in an hour.
The project will continue the Butte Creek restoration efforts on the Prescott College campus. By removing invasive Siberian elms and replacing them with drought-resilient native plant species, plant and biodiversity increases, improving the riparian habitat as a whole. (Courtesy)
